Welcome to Prairie Chick Stamper!

Hello from the pretty Saskatchewan Prairies in Canada! Thus the Prairie part of my blog's name. Also inspired by one of the most awesome scrap booking and quilting stores we have around here!

My name is Maryvel. I was born and raised in Colombia, South America, but for the last 19 years I have lived here in Saskatchewan in our farm with the best husband in the Whole Wide World. We have two wonderful kids, well both of them are teen-agers right now, but they are still great kids! We also have a dog (Maya), cows, sometimes we have sheep and cute liittle lambs, and chickens that provide us with delicious fresh farm eggs, everyday! Plus a wonderful garden to enjoy all summer long full of fresh, wonderful veggies! Soon we will even be able to have a horse on our farm, something I never thought would ever happen because of my husband serious allergies to them, but not any more, thanks to "Curly Horses" an amazing kind of hypo allergenic horse, they are simply amazing!

I have been Stampin for about a year now, and I am completely hooked! I have learned so much through visiting so many Stampin sites and making a few good friends at Splitcoaststampers.com. I am a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom), a BUSY Pastor's wife and church secretary, and I also love Computers and Photography! Basically no day goes by when I don't snap a picture of something or someone!! LOVE IT!! LOL!!!!

Enough about me! ;) Thank you for your visit and come again anytime!

Something Different, Something Beautiful!

December 3, 2009

Hello Everyone!

Man, I can't believe how long it has been since I was here last! That goes to show how busy my life has been with many other things, including being quite sick in between and doing a sourprise trip to my homeland Colombia for about 10 days! I don't even remember when was the last time I even made a card! Sad I know, but that's how live goes sometimes! I my priorities this last month have certainly be different than card making! I am happy to report though, that all is well with us, just VERY busy with many other things!

I assumed that most of you ladies, love flowers! am I right? Well, in my trip to Colombia last week, I had the opportunity and the privileged to visit a beautiful Natural Orchid reserve in the city where I grew up, Ibague, Tolima and I would like to share with you today the pictures of the amazing orchid collection they have there! Hope you enjoy it! Oh, by the way the Orchid (Cattleya Trianae) is Colombia's National Flower!

Cards with Pictures!

October 20, 2009

I have been so busy with company the last few days, that I haven't have the time to work on cards or post anything! Today I remembered I hadn't had the time to upload this card that I made a few weeks ago, so this is perfect! I am also giving blogger's new editor a try, so far, pretty good!

Way Back when I decided to give this card making business a try, I did it mainly because I wanted to see if I could somehow incorporate my love for photography in it, but somehow it seems to be easier to rather work with stamps than real photos! This time around though, as I was looking at the picture I took of this flower that someone brought to church on Sunday, I though this would make a nice card, I specially wanted somehow prolong the life of the flower as the lady that had it was sad already thinking it would soon die and she wouldn't be able to enjoy it anymore! So that's how the whole idea of the   card come about!

I must say she loved it and was very happy and very thankful for it, so that was great! I printed an extra picture to put inside but one that she could remove and put on a little frame or in her fridge or wherever! I was also dying to try my new Spellbinders Shapeabilities Pendants Fleur de Lis, so this was a great oportunity to do that!

I must say, working with the Pendant Fleur de Lis die, was NOT easy! and I don't know why nobody ever mentions that! After having so much problems with this particular die, I went to the SCS boards and discover that I wasn't the only one with the same problem! It seems you need patience, time and use CS no heavier than 65gr, other wise because of the intricate design it is VERY difficult to cut! I still love it though, but so you know!

Presents

September 27, 2009

I guess this week was present making week! A few weeks ago when our apples were ready to be picked, I made LOTS of apple sauce with them! My son simply LOVES homemade apple sauce. Since we have had a few new babies at church lately, I thought it would be a good idea to make a few jars just for those babies, with no sugar at all, and so I did. Then when I saw this image at the C.C.Designs site I couldn't help it but to think how nice this image would be to use with my apple sauce jars! This are digital images, and I LOVE THEM! You see, the great thing about Digital Images is that you can resize them, any size you want! They can fill a whole page or a little tag like this one without loosing quality at all. With your regular stamps, once size MUST fit all! :(

They are so easy to use! Just open them with your MS Word program, place them wherever you want them, make it any size you want to, print them on your favourite paper and colour them to your heart content! AWESOME! Also, no S/H charges, no waiting for the mailman! Find them, paid for them, download them and use them! As easy as that, wonderful don't you think? I am glad more and more of this companies are coming up now with some really awesome images, great for any project!

I coloured my images with my lovely Copics of course! Right away I also made this chart so I wouldn't forget which colours I had used, which happens all the time! Now I just have to file this image and next time I will know exactly which colours to use! For this project I also made my own Tag template so it would fit the size of the jar. Use some pretty paper from Graphics 45 which I LOVE!, my nesties and my other favourite Rangers distressing Ink.

STAMPS: C.C. Designs Sugarplums Apple Emma DIGI DOWNLOAD, SU Sentiment.
PAPER: Graphic 45 Vintage Cherries, SU Whisper White, Kraft and Red Riding Hood.
